Acting as Trustee for his Clients’ Trust, Partner Chris Spesia has distributed almost $2 million to local and national charities. Like many Joliet area residents, the Clients lived a life of hard work and good stewardship. In their later years, the Clients relied on the guidance of Spesia & Ayers’s now-deceased Senior Partner, Douglas Spesia, to craft their Estate Plan. Douglas Spesia recognized that the Clients, who did not have children, had donative intentions and worked with them to identify the local and national charities that best fit their charitable wishes.
Since Douglas Spesia’s death, Chris Spesia has continued to represent the surviving spouse, acting as her Agent for both health care and property purposes. Spesia’s representation has included continuing Doug Spesia’s practice of meeting with the Client at her home on account of her physical limitations, and as a result Chris Spesia established a bond with the Client that proved essential when difficult decisions needed to be made about her care.
The local and national charities that have benefitted from the clients’ magnanimous generosity will use the Clients’ gifts for:
- need-based scholarships at local Catholic grade schools
- to cover the expenses of care for the elderly members of certain religious orders, and
- to fight poverty and hunger on both local and global levels.
The Estate Planning Attorneys at Spesia & Ayers are ready and willing to act as a fiduciary for Firm Clients and pride themselves in performing these duties with professionalism and compassion.
